Article: Weaving Forward Together With Style Icon, Yasmin Furmie

Weaving Forward Together With Style Icon, Yasmin Furmie

Weaving Forward Together With Style Icon, Yasmin Furmie

In our new 'Weaving Forward Together' series - a first of more to follow - we feature members of our Romaria tribe. Call them boundary-breakers, style-shakers, inspiration rain-makers.

Join us as we welcome wonderful new additions to our collection. 🥳

When Yasmin Furmie says she loves our new ‘Kusafiri’ collection (in collaboration with TheUrbanative), we pay attention, and then we sit back and observe. 🙌

We are beyond proud to feature our tribe, especially if they drip with coolness like Yasmin. She welcomed us into her Johannesburg home for a styling sesh. We learnt more about her and her unapologetic fashion sense which is nothing short of admirable.

We left starry-eyed inspired and we hope you will too.

MAUA TEE

'Maua' is a Swahili word which means 'flowers'. The contemporary floral shaped pattern is exclusively designed for Romaria.

We set out on a mission – to design the perfect knitted tee, mission accomplished. ✔️

The tee is made of a soft lightweight cotton knit, designed to complement your Romaria collection. You’ll want to wear it every day.

MILIMA CARDI OAT

The name 'Milima' is a Swahili word which means 'mountains' or 'high place'. The curved, ribbed lines resemble the forms of mountains and textures of traced sand dunes.

It's a comfortable cardi that will be high on rotation in any wardrobe. The neutral colour palette with a pop of mustard makes it an elevated basic; easy to travel with, or to wear to work or play. Never to be packed away.

MILIMA CARDI BLACK

The new addition in black, goes without saying, that it is easy to style and to travel with. We’re totally imagining a his & hers moment.

MITO LONG COAT

We have been dreaming of a long, luxurious coat for the longest time and here it is! 🫶

We design pieces with comfort, functionality and versatility in mind, and we definitely did not skimp on this one. The neutral yet eye-catching textured colour palette with black patterned cuffs is extra special. It's a coat for any occasion, for any season.

The Mito Long Coat is an exploration of patterns and textures typically observed on an African Sarafi. The name 'Mito' is a Swahili word which means 'rivers'. The repeated curved, ribbed lines resemble the forms and textures of flowing water.

Yasmin describes a day in her life with her new fave, the Mito Long Coat, in her own words;

“What I love about the piece is its versatility. I would play with the coat by dressing it up an down. I would dress it down during the day with trousers and sneakers, perhaps style a skirt over my trousers, and then I would dress it up when I go out at night, showcasing how easy it is to wear a Romaria item.”

We would like to encourage all women, inspired by Yasmin, to disrupt the norm. To stop waiting for an occasion to wear that outfit, to break free from size or age (or any other) stigma.

Your wardrobe can be considered an extension of your personality. Showing up as the unapologetic version of yourself is an act of liberation and wellbeing, let it be so. 🌈
