Americanah (A3) – by Mariana Lancastre

Art by branding guru Mariana Lancastre

“The “Americanah” artwork is inspired by the novel with the same title by writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I was caught by the story of this woman that “becomes a black woman” when she moves from Nigeria to America. Her natural hair is a powerful symbol to address racism, loneliness and home and I wanted to pick this idea, by transforming an African pattern into a hectic urban landscape.” – Mariana
